The Lafayette Police Department ride-along program is offered to Lafayette residents, students, police department employment applicants, and those employed by the City of Lafayette to observe and experience, first-hand, various functions of the police department. The term "ride-along" includes riding as a passenger with an officer on patrol.
Eligibility
- Rider must be at least 15 years of age. Riders aged 15-17 must have parental or guardian approval.
- Rider must complete a Lafayette Police Department Ride Along Agreement and provide a copy of their government-issued driver's license or ID card. Agreements may be submitted online or completed at the police department.
- Rider must be cleared and undergo a criminal history background check. Applications may be denied for prior criminal history.
- Approved rider is allowed to participate no more than once every six months.
