  1. Maker Buddies


    Grades 9-12
    Summer 2021: meets in person on Thursdays in July from 3-4pm
    Have fun working with older kids to design and print 3D projects. Apply 
  2. Teen Collection Connection (TCC) 

    Grades 6-12
    Summer 2021: meets in person on June 15 and July 20
    Do you love to read and discuss favorite books, movies, and music? Join TCC and meet monthly with other teens to contribute short book reviews that will be featured on the Library's blog and on the shelves next to the books, and to help select items to add to the teen collection. Apply 
  3. Writing Buddies

     
    Grades 8-12
    Summer 2021: meets in person, Wednesdays in June from 3-4pm
    This is a writing mentoring program for kids in grades 3-5, led by volunteer teens. You will meet with other teens and kids to do writing games, share stories, and have fun! You will commit to a specific meeting day/time during the school year, or sign up for the whole summer session. Apply

Do a Teen Service Day

Grades 6-12:  Offered one Sunday afternoon per month 

Winter/Spring 2021 update: no dates currently available.)

Only have a hours to give? Don't apply for teen team: just sign up to work from 1-3 hours on one of our monthly teen service days. Join other teens for library housekeeping. including dusting, straightening, and organizing. View details & schedule

Typical Opportunities

  1. Circulation Aide 

    Grades 9-12: 2 hours, once per week

    Find out what it’s like to work in a library! Track down customer requests, and lend a hand shelving, straightening and ordering items in our collection. You should be good at alphabetizing and be comfortable using the Dewey Decimal System to sign up for this role.

    Homework Center

    Grades 11-12: 1 or 2 hours, once per week for whole school year 

    We are looking for strong students who are proficient in lots of subjects. Share your knowledge on subjects like math, language arts, science, and social studies to help other students complete homework assignments. This rewarding experience is a commitment for the whole BVSD school year.

    Library Buddies (Outreach at Boulder Ridge Mobile Home Park in Lafayette)

    Grades 7-12: once per week (six-week sessions) 

    Join other teens to lead kids in playing reading games. You will commit to a specific meeting day/time during one  or more 6-week sessions (typically in Fall and winter/Spring). Session dates and additional program info is often listed on the Reading Buddies home page. When you are ready, apply to Teen Team to get started!

    Reading Buddies 

    Grades 7-12: once per week (six-week sessions)

    With other teens, you will meet and get matched up with younger kids to read books, play games, make a difference and have fun! You will commit to a specific meeting day/time during one  or more 6-week sessions (typically in Fall and winter/Spring). Check session dates and additional program info on the Reading Buddies home page; then apply to Teen Team to get started!

    Summer Reading 

    Grades 6-12: 2 hours, once or twice per week (during June 1-July 31)

    Give out prizes, and help all age groups sign up and log reading minutes at the Summer Reading table. You may also help with programs and events, shelving, and other tasks. This is a great way for teens who love reading to share their enthusiasm with kids, teens, and adults!

    Grades 6-12: once per month for one hour during school year

    Do you love to read and discuss favorite books, movies, and music? Join TCC and meet monthly with other teens to contribute short book reviews that will be featured on the library’s blog and on the shelves next to the books, and to help select items to add to the teen collection.

    Love libraries and want to volunteer, but not sure what to do? You might be able to help with programs, story times, crafts, computer lab support, displays or other tasks. Apply for Teen Team and we will find a volunteer experience that is right for you!
