Lafayette Arts & Cultural Resources Department, in conjunction with the Lafayette Cultural Arts Commission and the Public Art Committee, offers a variety of diverse programming.  Most of these events are free and open to the public.  Some require pre-registration.

Water, Water Everywhere: Colorado Mosaic Artists Member Exhibit
July 1-Aug. 15
View the Colorado Mosaic Artists mosaic exhibit at The Collective from July 1-Aug. 15. All exhibited mosaics are handmade by more than 20 mosaic artists who have individually interpreted the theme “Water, Water Everywhere.” A free presentation and a “make and take” mosaic class in offered in conjunction with the exhibit.

Art Kits

Art Table To Go Kits

Sign up for a kit
Pick up your kit during any hours the Collective is open. Complete your art project at home. Suited for all ages. Most materials included. Some household items may be needed.

Currently available:

  • Mosaic Sun Catcher Kit - Catch the sunlight with art made of little clear, colorful tiles. Create a picture of something you know, or a dazzling abstract masterpiece.
  • Articulated Figure Kit - Choose one of three fun kits to make a creative, articulated animal figure. Includes supplies and instructions for assembly.  You may choose Basic, Medium, or Complex when you pick up your kit. 
  • Birds, Birds, Birds! - In celebration of Spring, make a sweet little string of colorful paper birds, and learn about local avian life, with our mini "Field Guide to Lafayette Birds!" 
  • Watercolor Fun - A basic watercolor kit including paint, brushes, and a couple pieces of watercolor paper. Find watercolor tutorials on our YouTube channel.

Studio Art Kits

These free, advanced art kits, developed by artists for at-home creativity, are available for pickup from The Collective. The recommended age is listed in the kit description. Kits come complete with all materials and a link to video instruction from the artist. The number of kits is limited, and signup is required.

  • Articulated Figure from a Photo: Advanced Studio Art KitArticulated Dolls
    Sign up for a kit (45 available)
    Create an articulated figure or doll using a template or a photo. Denise Chaudhari shows all of the steps on a YouTube Video. Each kits comes with all of the supplies needed and the YouTube link to make your own articulated person beginning with a blank piece of paper. She reviews basic drawing, transfer techniques, watercolor tips, and assembly. This project requires some advanced skills and is suitable for ages high school and up. Watch the Instructional Video

  • Sock Monkey Studio Art Kit Sock Monkey sitting on top of a Community Library in Lafayette, CO
    We no longer have Sock Monkey Studio Art Kits available, but the Sock Monkey fun is not over! You may watch Stacey B.'s tutorial video and get the written directions in English or Spanish. The written directions include a supply list. Enjoy making your very own Sock Monkey!
