Swim Lessons and Programs

The best way to have a good time in the water is to be comfortable in the water.

Lafayette Recreation offers a variety of types and levels of swim lessons designed to teach children, teens, and adults the skills they need to cruise through the lap lanes.

Small-group swim lessons are also available for participants six months and older.

Ready for the next aquatic challenge?

Lafayette Recreation has its own Swim Team for youth and teens. Being a member of Lafayette Seals can increase your skills from average to competitive. Learn more about the Lafayette Seals.  For adults, check out our Masters Swim.

Lafayette Recreation Swim Lessons

The City of Lafayette Aquatics Department hopes to make accessible the life-saving skill of swimming to every child. On Saturday, April 15, and April 22, 2023, families participating in the 2023 Reduced Rate Program at the Bob L. Burger Recreation Center can take advantage of a free Learn to Swim mini-session.

Families must be registered in the 2023 Reduced Rate Program to participate in a free mini-session.

  • Families in the Reduced Rate Program can register for a free mini-session at the Front Desk of the Bob L. Burger Recreation Center
  • Mini-sessions are based on availability, and participation in the Reduced Rate Program does not guarantee a spot
  • Only one mini-session per child

We highly encourage parents to learn more about water safety before the Learn to Swim mini-session by taking this free online course taught by the American Red Cross.
