The Boathouse at Waneka Lake Park offers various watercraft rentals, including paddleboats, kayaks, canoes, and stand-up paddleboards. Only watercraft rented at the boathouse are allowed on the lake. No personal vessels at any time.

Waneka Lake Boathouse to remain closed for the 2022 season

Due to regional water concerns and statewide drought conditions, the Waneka Lake Boathouse will not open for boat rentals this summer

Challenging conditions and drought concerns continue regionally and statewide despite recent precipitation. According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, most of Colorado is in a moderate or severe drought due to lack of precipitation, warmer temperatures, dry soil, sustained evaporative winds, and lower than average snowpack. 

The City’s priority is to ensure sufficient water is available for essential domestic use. The peak spring runoff has passed and has been used to fill our primary storage facilities at Baseline and Goose Haven Reservoirs. Because these reservoirs haven’t filled to capacity, it is not anticipated a sufficient water supply will be available to raise Waneka Lake levels to allow for recreational boathouse operations. Waneka Lake rules

  • No swimming or wading due to safety and liability concerns
  • No private vessels are permitted on the lake
  • A fishing license is mandatory for those 16 years of age and older
  • State fishing regulations apply- purchase a fishing license
  • All bass less than 15 inches must be returned to the water
  • The lake is stocked with rainbow trout
