The Code Compliance Division responds to inquiries, investigates complaints, and conducts inspections of alleged violations as set forth in the city's code.
Mission

- Create a more beautiful and viable place to live and work
- Educate the community about the city's rules and regulations
- Oversee City's goal to protect the health, safety, and welfare of Lafayette residents
Violations and concerns
If there is a violation, the property owner is contacted informing them of the violation and the date for compliance. Another inspection is done on the due date for compliance and if the violation is corrected, the case is closed. If the violation is not corrected, then a citation may be issued or if the nuisance is a serious threat to public safety or health, then it may be abated. See Section 70-6 and Abatement Procedures
