Application Submission & Steps to Employment

Filling a vacant position may take from three to eight weeks.

Resumes, cover letters, transcripts and other pertinent documents may be uploaded to your application at our hiring website. www.cityoflafayette.com/jobs

  • Applications must be submitted by the deadline.
  • Applications will be screened to determine the qualified applicants; this process may take two weeks.
  • Qualified candidates will be contacted. The next steps may include:
    • Interviews
    • Performance tests
    • Background checks
    • Drug test (DOT and public safety candidates)
  • The successful candidate will be notified and offered the position.
  • Federal law requires proof of eligibility to work in the United States within 72 hours of the hire date.
