Thomas Open Space Farm
Originated by a resident-led, grass roots effort, the vision for Thomas Open Space on Baseline Road continues to blossom as the historically farmed land is in use today for organic crop production and as the home site of a permanent farm stand operated by Isabelle Farm. The unique relationship between a municipality and a local farming operation demonstrates Lafayette’s commitment to providing diverse experiences for community members, while preserving its small town atmosphere.
The barn project at Thomas Open Space provides the community with a permanent farm stand facility where they can find local produce and food and take part in educational opportunities, which foster an appreciation for local agriculture.
Wilson Community Garden
The City of Lafayette offers community plots for residents looking to raise fresh vegetables. The Wilson Community Garden is conveniently located in the middle of town with 65 plots irrigated with well water on site.
Kerr Community Gardens
The Kerr Community Gardens are located at the Harney-Lastoka Open Space that is jointly owned by the City of Lafayette, the City of Louisville and Boulder County. The property creates an open space between Louisville and Lafayette and maintains the agricultural heritage of the property. The Kerr Community Garden contains 43 plots of different sizes, a chicken-coop tool shed and apple orchard.
