Festival Plaza

Festival Plaza is a gathering place in Old Town Lafayette on Public Road and Chester Street. It is home to festivals, summer storytimes, and summer concerts. 

Splash Pad at Festival Plaza

The fountains are on from 10am-8pm daily from Memorial Day until Labor Day. The fountains may be turned off during scheduled events. Lafayette Parks maintains the Splash Pad.

Reserving the Plaza and Starkey Building

Festival Plaza
A Reservation Request Form must be completed and approved to hold an event at Festival Plaza. Festival Plaza may be reserved only for events open to the public.

Starkey Building 

The Starkey Building is not currently available for rentals.

All Festival Plaza reservations are handled by the Arts & Cultural Resources Department at The Collective Community Art Center. For questions, please call 303-661-1261.

Little Free Library

Take a book! Leave a book! Festival Plaza is home to a Little Free Library sponsored by the Library Board, built by Bill Cameron and painted by Braydon Durfey. The mini-Alley Art was painted by Sarah Spencer.

Art on the Plaza

A number of Lafayette's Permanent Collection pieces reside at Festival Plaza. There is also an Art on the Street sculpture location by the Pump House.

Stranger Reduction Zone by Artist Timothy Flood
Press the button to hear a friendly greeting; each press activates a greeting in a different language. This fun and interactive piece was part of the 2018 Art on the Street collection. It was purchased by the Public Art Committee for Lafayette's Permanent Art Collection in 2018.

Nap Time by Ed Gauss. 
This sweet bear laid down for his nap in the 2014 Art on the Street program and is now part of the Permanent Art Collection. It was purchased by the Lafayette Urban Renewal Authority.

Boat of the Universe by Kimmerjae Macarus. 
Boat of the Universe first landed in Festival Plaza in 2015 as part of Art on the Street. After a brief hiatus, the boat is now a permanent fixture in Festival plaza. This sculpture is carved from Glacier Granite from Salida.

Imagination by Lucas Loeffler. 
Originally in the 2009 Art on the Street, this is Loeffler's second piece in the city's Permanent Art Collection. It was inspired by the way in which reading can take us away to faraway places.

Billy by Artist Dimitry Domani
Billy was part of Art on the Street 2017. He was purchased by the Lafayette Public Art Committee to stay at Festival Plaza and remain part of Lafayette's Permanent Art Collection.
