Bird City Ceremony at Greenlee Wildlife Preserve

Saturday, May 8, 2021

In 2019, Lafayette was designated Colorado’s first “Bird City.”  Please join us to publicly celebrate this achievement with the installation of a beautiful Bird City sign at Greenlee Wildlife Preserve at Waneka Lake.  Ted Floyd, author of The Smithsonian Field Guide for Birds of North America, will reflect on the significance of the "Bird City" designation in Lafayette. Representatives from Lafayette's Open Space and Cultural Arts Departments and the Lafayette Energy Sustainability Advisory Committee will also share a few words.  The ceremony will be live linked to World Migratory Bird Day activities which will take place in 700 locations between Argentina and Canada!  Activities will include a scavenger hunt, beginner birding lessons, and cultural bird displays from Colorado Parks & Wildlife.
