[ARCHIVED] Lafayette’s “Green Expedition” winner announced

2013 Green Expedition Winner

Lafayette’s “Green Expedition” winner announced

Pam Simpson of Lafayette won an iPad Mini and discovered how GREEN the City of Lafayette is by participating in the 2013 Green Expedition.

“I really had fun,” said winner Pam Simpson, “and the Green Expedition encouraged me to get out and explore Lafayette. By playing the game I learned there are more electric vehicles in our city than I realized and that the City has installed EV charging stations in multiple locations.”

The Green Expedition contest, run by the Lafayette Energy Sustainability Advisory Committee (LESAC), challenged residents to uncover answers to questions about green initiatives in their community. Participants learned about the City’s commitment to renewable energy which includes solar, electrical vehicle charging stations, local food production, Lafayette green businesses, and more.

“Lafayette is one of the most forward-thinking green communities in the state when it comes to sustainability,” said Curt Cheesman, Director of Recreation, Senior Services, Facility and Energy Management. “Many of our projects aren’t physically visible to residents so our goal was to raise awareness through this fun, interactive contest.”

There was no charge to participate in the Green Expedition. Game information can be found at www.cityoflafayette.com/GreenExpedition . The winner was drawn randomly from all completed game cards.
