It may be 3 degrees outside right now, but . . . on December 5, 1913, one year ago—to the day, the most severe snow storm in Lafayette history hit the area. The Lafayette Leader (now Colorado Hometown News) reported snow accumulation of at least SIX FEET! Townsfolk endured shortages of coal, meat, bread and butter for six days following the storm. Lafayette-bound train passengers were stranded in Louisville. Six of them walked and crawled home, taking three days to cover three miles!
