[ARCHIVED] See & Respond Call for Artists ~ Deadline extended August 25

Call for Artists and Poets! The Lafayette Cultural Resources Division announces a Call for Artists and Poets for the See & Respond Art Show. Poets and 2-D artists of all kinds are invited to See & Respond to the 2014 Lafayette Colorado Art on the street collection by writing poems or creating 2-D works of art in any medium that are inspired by any of the 2014 Art on the Street sculptures. Cash prizes will be awarded in three categories for this juried show.

The See & Respond Art Show and Art on the Street Meet the Artists Reception, featuring the Art on the Street Sculptures and the works they inspired, will be held in Lafayette Public Library September 5, 6:00 – 9 pm. Prizes will be awarded in multiple categories and the winner of the Art on the Street, Jean Mellblom People’s Choice Award will be announced.

Deadline extended to Monday, August 25, 2014, 4:00 p.m.Please note that the dates have not been changed on the forms.; all artwork is due for installation on August 29. More details are available at www.cityoflafayette.com/CFA.

Seventeen Art on the Street sculptures were installed along Public Road in March and April. Artists and Poets wishing to enter See & Respond may visit the sculptures in person or view them on the City of Lafayette website, www.cityoflafayette.com/aots. The artists whose work is installed on Public Rd are: Tom Newport, Judd Nelson, Joellen Domenico, Robert Henderson, Richard Mertineit, Harold Linke, Ed Gauss, Reven Swanson, Greg Wasil, Greg Todd, Anne Shutan, Kimmerjae Johanson, David Norrie, Justin Deister and Felix Valez. This program provides the community with a full access interactive art experience year round.
