Art on the Street 2015 Sculpture artists wanted! Lafayette Cultural Resources is calling for sculpture submissions for the 2015 Art on the Street Sculpture Walk. This program provides artists nationwide the opportunity to showcase their work in this creative, diverse and eclectic community.
Art on the Street, in its seventh year, is the largest sculpture on loan program in Boulder County. Selected sculptures will be on display outdoors for one year. Artists' submissions are due November 2, 2014. Sixteen works will be selected; artists will each receive a $500 stipend upon installation. All sculptures are for sale in this outdoor art display. Artworks on display are eligible for the $1000 Jean Mellblom People's Choice Award. More information and the application can be found at www.cityoflafayette.com/CFA
Each selected sculpture will receive a QR code linking to the City’s website where information about the artwork and the artist will be available. Through the website people will be able to access information about the sculptures, artists’ statements, a teacher’s curriculum packet and other activities. Lafayette’s 2014 Art on the Street program also included interactive components to encourage community engagement. The 2014 Art on the Street: See & Respond! Show included 2-D Art and Poetry.
“Meet the Artists Reception”, featuring the Art on the Street Sculptures will be held in Lafayette during the summer of 2015. The winner of the Art on the Street, Jean Mellblom People’s Choice Award will be announced.
Apply for this opportunity to display work in a unique community where members appreciate, support and encourage art. Art on the Street sculptures are highlighted as part of five Art Night Out events, in the Lafayette Recreation Department’s heART Walk, and as part of an education outreach program. They create a unique attraction and centerpiece for the City of Lafayette.
Art on the Street submissions are due November 2, 2014. After submitting the online form, please email 2-3 photos to arts@cityoflafayette.com. At least one photo must include a size reference (i.e. a yardstick). This program is not limited to local artists; finalists will be accepted from a nationwide pool of artists.
