E. Cleveland sinkhole – January 13 update

State engineers will be evaluating the E. Cleveland sinkhole on January 13 in anticipation to begin filling operations on January 14. Updates and schedule changes will be posted on the City's website at www.cityoflafayette.com . Foote Avenue east to Brown Court along E. Cleveland Street is closed to traffic until further notice.

Coal mining is a prevalent component of east Boulder County's history, and the remnants of underground shafts and tunnels exist in the area. Residents should not be overly concerned about continued issues in Lafayette as a result of the subsidence event on E. Cleveland Street. A link is provided below to the Colorado Division of Reclamation Mining and Safety's website where area maps, resources, and additional information can be viewed.
