Wanda Hodgson Volunteer of the Year 2015

In 2014 the City of Lafayette was honored to have benefited from the support of 523 volunteers. Many programs would not be possible without the contribution of these important people. City volunteers were recognized at the annual Volunteer of the Year event on June 2.

Thank you to all of our volunteers!

Volunteer of the Year - Wanda HodgsonWanda has recorded 8,832 hours of service to older adults in Lafayette over the past 16 years. She has worked the Senior Center front desk, participated and led many sewing projects, cataloged volunteer hours, served on the Senior Advisory Board, and baked over 100 cakes. Even her dog Little Boy has volunteered hours.

Honorable Mention: Daryl Smith (Lafayette Police Department volunteer)Other Nominees: Alan Crandall (Lafayette Public Art Committee volunteer), Sean Sands (Lafayette Fire Department volunteer), Jason Younger (Lafayette Fire Department volunteer)

Teen Volunteer of the Year - Adam McDonaldAdam has volunteered for many Library programs such as Homework Center Tutor, Reading Buddies, Teen Advisory Board, Summer Reading Teen Team member, Special Event Volunteer, and Friends of the Library Book Sale. Over the past 5 years Adam has donated over 140 hours to the Library.

Honorable Mention: Kavita Krishnan (Lafayette Library volunteer)

Volunteer Group of the Year - Program LafayetteProgram Lafayette, an outreach committee of the Lafayette Tech Meetup group, brings free technology workshops to Lafayette youths, teens, and adults through collaborative programs held at the Lafayette Public Library. In 2014 Program Lafayette provided 35 volunteers, over 500 volunteer hours, and 18 workshops and special programs.

Honorable Mention: City Drivers for Meals on Wheels and the Lafayette Waste Reduction Advisory Committee
