The Lafayette Cultural Arts Commission (LCAC) and Public Art Committee (PAC) are seeking enthusiastic applicants to serve as committee members and alternates. The deadline to apply is August 20. More information can be found at www.cityoflafayette.com/joinlcac and www.cityoflafayette.com/joinpac .
LCAC and PAC are two volunteer, citizen committees dedicated to developing, promoting, nurturing, and celebrating arts opportunities in Lafayette. Members are responsible for establishing goals and objectives for arts and cultural programs, establishing budgets, marketing, and promotion. LCAC works with the Public Art Committee and the Cultural Resources Division. Both groups are member-driven committees with limited city staff resources; members are expected to actively participate and attend meetings.
LCAC members are directly involved in supporting several programs including Art Night Out, local art shows, the Arts in Education and Arts in the Community Grant programs and bringing special programming to the community. PAC focuses on bring public art to the community with the Art on the Street program and permanent purchases.
Lafayette residents are encouraged to apply for this opportunity to contribute to the ongoing development of our vibrant arts community. Members of both groups need not be artists, but should appreciate and value the important role of arts and culture in a community. Members need at least one year of Lafayette residency, be registered to vote in Lafayette and attend a scheduled, monthly meeting at the Lafayette Public Library. Additional work may be required occasionally, based on current projects and programs.
