[ARCHIVED] Dog attack in the 100 block of Beacon Hill on Tuesday

UPDATE 10/9/15: Through the investigation and citizen input, the Lafayette Police Department believes the predator involved in this attack may be a mountain lion. A citizen has reported hearing what they believed to be the sounds of a mountain lion near Arapahoe Ridge Friday morning around 5am. Arapahoe Ridge is an Erie neighborhood located at Arapahoe and 111th. Wounds on dog also appear to be consistent with a mountain lion.

A report has been received of a dog attacked in the 100 block of Beacon Hill Drive on Tuesday, October 6. Beacon Hill Drive is located near 111th between Baseline Rd and Arapahoe. The dog is described as a 40-50 pound Bulldog and was attacked inside its own backyard. It is suspected a large predator attacked this dog. The dog did not survive the attack. The incident is under investigation and Colorado Parks & Wildlife has been notified. Please report any sitings of large wildlife in the area to Police Dispatch at 303-441-4444.
