On Sunday, April 16, 2017 at approximately 6:40pm Lafayette Police and Fire Departments were dispatched to the 900 block of Excalibur Street in Lafayette on a report of an unconscious 2-year old.  The call was then updated to a car accident.  The Lafayette Fire Department transported a 2-year old female to Good Samaritan Hospital where she later died. 

 

The investigation revealed that BLANCA CECILIA SANDOVAL (44) of Lafayette, was driving a Volkswagen Passat in a parking lot and collided with a parked Honda CR-V.  During the collision the 2-year old who was near the Honda received traumatic injuries.

 

SANDOVAL was arrested for Careless Driving- Causing Death, a Class 1 Misdemeanor Traffic Offense and lodged at the Boulder County Jail.  SANDOVAL has been cooperating with investigators as the investigation into this incident continues.  No impairment was apparent at the time of the incident.
