The City of Lafayette is proud to announce Susan Koster, City Clerk, has been named the 2017 Clerk of the Year by the Colorado Municipal Clerks Association (CMCA). The CMCA honors and recognizes the contributions of individuals who have made a noticeable impact on Colorado municipalities.
Ms. Koster has been an employee of the City for 31 years, the past 14 in the capacity of City Clerk. She is recognized for her professional contributions to a wide variety of city responsibilities. Most recently, Susan led Lafayette and helped set the guidelines for others in establishing procedures and licensing of marijuana establishments.
The Municipal Clerk is the oldest of public servants in local government, along with the tax collector. Over the years, Municipal Clerks have become the hub of government, the direct link between the inhabitants of their community and their government. The Clerk is the historian of the community, for the entire recorded history of the town (city) and its people is in his or her care.
