The Lafayette Urban Renewal Authority (LURA) is the public entity that affects revitalization and redevelopment in the Old Town area. The Authority works in partnership with property owners to improve existing structures, eliminate blight, attract new commercial and mixed use development, and prevent the deterioration of properties within the corridor to ensure the Authority’s goals and objectives are met. Past projects have included loan assistance, architectural design services and feedback, signage, patio construction and enhancements, and ADA upgrades.
LURA has entered into an contract with the property owner of the 700 block of S. Public Road to purchase this property for redevelopment. The Authority desires to gather community stakeholder input to help shape direction for this development.
Please follow the link below to access a questionnaire inquiring about priorities and preferred uses for the 700 block of S. Public Road property. Participants’ input from this questionnaire will be shared with potential developers submitting plans to LURA’s RFP (Request for Proposal) process. These developers will utilize the responses to help guide their proposals.
