Dear Lafayette Community,
The Lafayette Parks Recreation & Open Space Department is excited to announce we are opening recreation facilities and resuming services. The recent order issued by the State of Colorado and the guidelines issued by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment have provided updated guidelines that permit openings, with restrictions and safety measures in place. These guidelines will help protect users’ health and safety.
Now open:
The following require advanced reservations:
- Bob L. Burger Recreation Center
- Waneka Lake Boathouse: Reserve Stand Up Paddleboards (SUPs) and Kayaks here.
- Park Shelter Reservations: for groups of up to 10, reserve your shelter here.
- Sport Field Reservations: reservation requests in compliance with guidelines are being accepted; user group must submit a program plan and work with staff on implementation details.
- Bob L. Burger Recreation Center Gym: registered program participation only.
Also open:
- Great Bark Dog Park
- Disc golf course at Waneka Lake Park
- Lafayette Skate Park
- All public playgrounds
- All public picnic areas and public shelters
- All public restrooms in parks and open space
- All public basketball courts
- All public volleyball courts
- City-owned tennis courts
The following remain closed until further notice:
- The Great Outdoors Waterpark (will be closed for the entire 2020 season)
- Senior Center
- Festival Plaza Splash Pad
- Bob L. Burger Recreation Center Drop-in Child Care
- Bob L. Burger Recreation Center Racquetball Courts
- Bob L. Burger Recreation Center Room Rentals
- Bob L. Burger Recreation Center Hot Tubs, Steam Room & Sauna
When visiting Waneka Boathouse:
- Advanced, online reservations for boat rentals will be required.
- Kayaks and Stand Up Paddleboards will be available for rent.
- Must be at least 12 years old to rent a watercraft.
- Paddleboats and Canoes will not be available.
- Payments will be required at the Lake Waneka boathouse.
- Drop-in boat rentals will not be available.
- Guests are encouraged to bring their own Coast Guard approved lifejacket.
- Fees for all watercraft are $10 for 30 minutes.
- Please wear a face covering when arriving and departing, when preparing to launch, and anytime you may not be able to maintain at least 6 feet of physical distance.
When participating in programming or visiting staffed facilities:
- Indoor facility access will be limited. All those entering our facilities must have advance registration.
- All those entering our facilities will be asked health-screening questions.
- Per state order, face coverings are required at all times. Face coverings are required at all times when exercising with a group of people in a public, indoor space. Face coverings are required while exercising alone, unless it interferes with your personal exercise. Please maintain at least 6-foot distancing from others.
- Guests should bring their own water bottles. Guests will be asked to sanitize all equipment, machines, and lockers used. Staff will be sanitizing commonly touched surfaces.
- Hand sanitizer will be available throughout the facilities. Guests are encouraged to wash their hands with soap and water frequently, and use hand sanitizer when they are not able to access soap and water.
Bob L. Burger Recreation Center Information:
- Annual Pass Holders
- All Adult and Senior passes were activated on June 24.
- Youth passes will remain on hold until further notice.
- Youth 15 or older, who wish to use the fitness equipment, may request to have their pass activated.
- Passholders may request to have their pass placed on hold by contacting Florak@cityoflafayette.com.
- Monthly Pass Holders
- All Adult and Senior passes were activated on June 24.
- Youth passes will remain on hold until further notice.
- Youth 15 or older, who wish to use the fitness equipment, may request to have their pass activated.
- Adult and Senior passes will be billed 50% of their monthly fee on July 15. The full monthly rate will be billed on August 1.
- Passholders may request to have their pass placed on hold by contacting Florak@cityoflafayette.com.
- Cashless transactions are encouraged.
- Purchase a 5-visit punch card; monthly pass; or annual pass prior to arrival.
- Daily drop-in visits to the BBRC are not offered.
- Advanced registrations are required. Register here for a 1-hour time slot.
- Punch cards can be purchased online.
- Spectators will not be admitted.
- Racquetball courts will be used for exercise, and not available for play.
- Use of showers is discouraged. If used, showers must be completed within the 1-hour reservation time.
- Bring your own lock. A limited number of lockers will be available.
- Towel service will no longer be offered and locks will not be available for check out.
