[ARCHIVED] Water tank maintenance work at Sandpiper Drive/Waneka Lake Trail

Water tank maintenance work at Sandpiper Drive/Waneka Lake Trail

The Public Works Department has contracted with Riley Industrial to rehabilitate the 5 million gallon red zone water storage tank, located near the corner of Sandpiper Drive and Waneka Lake Trail. The project scope of work, anticipated to be complete April 2021, includes sandblasting removal of the existing interior and exterior paint, repairing of aging interior joists and steel, and repainting of the tank.  Water delivery to customers during this maintenance project will not be affected.

The contractor's work area will be limited to the on-site interior fence.  The City has partnered with the Prairie Dog Advisory Working Group (PDAWG) to close burrows directly adjacent to the work zone and to establish work and equipment storage guidelines for the contractor. While no animals will be relocated, these proactive measures will help protect the prairie dogs at the site and minimize impacts to their habitat.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation. This is a significant project that will ensure the durability and longevity of this valuable City asset. Questions may be directed to melanie.asquith@cityoflafayette.com
