A new Comprehensive Plan for Lafayette has been developing since Spring of 2019. Residents have expressed an aspiration to remain a unique place to live and to have the ability to maintain their future lives here as they move through life stages. This comprehensive planning process – Legacy Lafayette – is creating a roadmap for the future of the community. The plan is an opportunity for residents to see where we are, where we are heading, where we want to go, and how to get there.

What is a Comprehensive Plan?
A Comprehensive Plan is the backbone of a community’s planning efforts. It outlines challenges, helps identify solutions, and provides guidance to appointed and elected officials on planning-related decisions. The best Comprehensive Plans are those that have the involvement, input, and support of the entire community.
Legacy Lafayette began in Spring 2019 and the community has provided input in many ways, including the following:
- Online mapping tool
- Community Workshops and Meetings
- Community Surveys
- Online Discussion Forums
- Information Booths at Community Events
- Comments and Questions via Email
- Comments and questions through this website
- Comments and discussion at meetings of the Community Advisory Committee (CAC)
- Social media campaigns on NextDoor, Facebook, and Twitter
The LegacyLafayette.org website is entirely dedicated to supporting the Comp Plan process and providing resources to inform the community. An interactive map, planning documents, meeting minutes, survey results, and more are available in English and Spanish.
