[ARCHIVED] Newly hired Fire Chief, Pete Bradshaw

new staff releases

Pete Bradshaw, the City of Lafayette’s newly hired Fire Chief will commence his employment with the City on April 12.

Bradshaw has worked in fire service for 25 years, most recently as the Deputy Fire Chief for the Roaring Fork Fire Rescue Authority. He received a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration, emphasis in Human Resources and Organizational Development from Colorado State University, is a graduate of the Executive Fire Officer Program at the National Fire Academy and is currently completing his Masters in Organizational Leadership from Waldorf University.

“I believe that a solid Fire Chief advocates for and supports the fire department, mentors and coaches their leadership team, is present and available, and works with other City departments to further the goals of the City,” said Bradshaw. “I value the relationships I have built during my career and look forward to building new ones at the City of Lafayette both within the fire department, with other city leaders, and throughout the community.”

The Fire Chief leads and directs all personnel, emergency coordination, and activities of the Lafayette Fire Department and is a pivotal position in our City leadership team.

“Pete is a strategic leader and will be a key part of the City’s executive team and a partner in emergency management for the City” said City Administrator Fritz Sprague. “I find him to be ethical, fair, and he has great integrity. Pete’s experience, education and training made him our clear candidate of choice and he’ll be a great fit with the department and our community.”

We asked Pete a few additional questions to help you get to know him. Find his answers below.

What’s one thing you’re really bad at?

  • Dancing, I’m the worst dancer at every wedding I’ve ever been to!

What show are you currently binge-watching?

  • Yellowstone

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

  • Every kid wants to be firefighter, right? But as I grew up I wanted to be an FBI agent like my neighbor had been. But ultimately, I fell in love with the fire service while in High School and was fortunate enough to make a career out of it.

What do you like to do in your free time?

  • I adore my family, so foremost anything that they are doing. We spend time every summer in our RV exploring this great part of the country. I love to hunt and camp and when I have time an afternoon in the woodshop is always a welcome diversion.

What is your favorite food?

  • Prime Rib.
