[ARCHIVED] Public Works will begin citywide street sweeping May 17

Street sweeping will begin in the Blue Heron subdivision and move south to Baseline Road on Monday, May 17. Street sweeping will continue weekly until completion of all streets within City of Lafayette limits. Crews will be working around the schedule of trash haulers’ pickup schedules to minimize traffic congestion. Residents are reminded to observe temporary no parking signs to allow sweeping of parking and gutter areas.

As a reminder, please do not blow or rake leaves into the City's streets or gutters as this is a violation of the City's Storm water Ordinance Chapter 104, Article III, Section 104-34(a) (5). Grass clippings and leaves blown or swept into storm drains or into the street harm waterways and creeks. Storm drains flow into pipes and into drainageways. When anything but rain and snow melt goes down the storm drain, it can become a drainage problem. Improper disposal of yard wastes including leaves, have the potential to impact both the water quality in Coal Creek, Rock Creek, and Waneka Lake, and cause drainage problems during a storm event.  Learn the positive impacts of sweeping and see our sweepers in action by checking out this video.
