[ARCHIVED] Celebrate Pride Month

June Pride 2021

On June 1, the Lafayette City Council issued a proclamation in support of Pride Month to encourage Lafayette residents to join together to celebrate and honor the history, diversity, and resilience of LGBTQ+ communities. Read the full proclamation here.

The City of Lafayette will be displaying Progress Pride flags at City facilities during the month of June. The Progress Pride flag reimagines the Pride Flag and Transgender Pride Flag by adding black and brown stripes to represent marginalized LGBTQ+ communities of color and community members living with or lost to HIV/AIDS. The flag also boasts reshaped colored stripes to represent the necessity to move forward.

The City of Lafayette’s Police Department will also display Pride stickers on all squad cars during the month of June to further demonstrate our commitment to ensuring the City of Lafayette is welcoming to all; regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, race, or ethnicity.
