To dispose of fireworks without penalty, feel free to bring them to the Lafayette Police Department or contact us to pick them up.

Waneka fireworks display canceled for 2021
The Lafayette Chamber has made the difficult decision to cancel the July 4th Celebration at Waneka Lake.

Fundraising of $15,000-$17,000 is required for a 15-minute show, which has been accomplished in the past with business sponsors and some contributions from Lafayette residents. The Lafayette business community has been very generous in the past, but they were severely impacted by COVID, so seeking donations from those local businesses struggling to re-open wasn't possible. The Chamber would have needed to order $17,000 in non-refundable fireworks in March, which they could not justify not knowing if the event would be allowed. When the COVID "all-clear" was received in May, it was too late to order.

The Chamber is truly saddened they aren't able to host the July 4th event. They hope to bring it back next year with the support of the Lafayette community.
