Lafayette's 2021 pavement capital improvement projects have have been suspended for the 2021 calendar year due to challenges surrounding the ongoing oil supply. Asphalt suppliers have shut down production, delaying deliveries into the fall/winter months. Cooler temperatures negatively affect pavement overlay and curing processes, so the decision has been made to delay work until 2022. Public Works contractors will continue addressing failing pavement throughout the City by patching, removing, or replacing as part of the 2021 contract.
The annual street rehabilitation is part of the Public Works Street Improvement Project and is an essential element of the City's street maintenance program designed to preserve a significant investment in our streets.
