Due to the surge in COVID cases, the City of Lafayette will close City Hall and the Senior Center to the public beginning on Tuesday, Jan. 18, until further notice. Certain services will be offered by reservation or appointment only at the Senior Center. City services will continue to be available online, and staff is available via telephone or email during regular business hours.
County and state health officials caution the Omicron variant is spreading rapidly. The decision to close these City facilities to the public was made to protect the safety and well-being of residents as well as employees. Since the highly contagious Omicron variant poses a higher risk to our older adults, the Senior Center is included in the closures, but certain services will be offered by reservation or appointment only. Limiting public access to facilities allows the City to continue providing uninterrupted essential services while maintaining health and safety. The City will evaluate when to safely allow for public access to return to these areas.
