[ARCHIVED] Free Mulch Giveaway Event April 16 and May 7

Did you ever wonder what happens to the branches the City collects during Spring Cleanup? They’re turned into mulch!

Lafayette residents can grab mulch during the free Mulch Giveaway event on Saturday, April 16 and May 7, from 9am to 1pm at the Service Center, 1700 Avalon Ave. Bring your own loading tools such as shovels, pitchforks, and containers to serve yourself.

Mulch has many benefits as it retains soil moisture, reduces weeds and controls grass, improves soil quality, and allows the soil to stay cooler in the summer.

This event is available for pickup by self-service only. City staff will only be onsite to provide traffic control and will not be loading materials into vehicles. The mulch giveaway is weather dependent. For more information on the Mulch Giveaway, visit lafayetteco.gov/MulchGiveaway
