Update: Water main break at South Boulder Road and Minotaur Circle

water main break _news flash

(Update: Nov. 23 4:45 pm)

Public Works successfully made the emergency repair to the water line of Minotaur Circle at the southern end of Milo Circle without water disruption to residents. Staff will continue to monitor the area over the next several days. If you should experience an outage in or around this area, please check here for the most up-to-date information, or if after hours, please call the Boulder County dispatch line at 303-441-4444. Updates will continue to be posted as they are available. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time.

(Update: Nov. 23 1:35pm)

Public Works is aware of a persisting leak that is presenting a hazard. Emergency maintenance is required, and crews will be onsite around 2 -3pm to begin the repair. We anticipate water service to be shut off for 4-6 hours, possibly overnight. Crews won't know the extent of the damage until excavation begins and can thoroughly assess the situation. Before water is turned off, fill your bathtub with water and use it for flushing toilets only. Bottled water will be available at two locations and is available until gone.

1. Between Minotaur Circle & Delta Drive
2. North intersection of Milo Circle & Minotaur Circle

We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience and are doing everything we can to get water restored as quickly as possible. We will continue to provide updates as they are available.

(Update: Nov. 23 7:05 am)

Public Works has restored water service to all residents. The majority of residents received water back around 10 pm and all residents had water before midnight. The areas that were excavated are being backfilled and cleaned up. The outside westbound lane on South Boulder Road is open. Continued work will be done to repair the road and sidewalk. Additional work will be needed on some of the utility lines and staff will give advance notice to residents prior to any disruptions. Staff is continuing to monitor the area in the interim.

Please run your faucets for 5-10 minutes to flush out residual air within water lines.

(Update: Nov. 22; 4:15pm)

Public Works has isolated the water main break and expects restoration of water service to residents to occur within 4-6 hours. If unexpected problems develop, crews will continue working on site until service is fully restored.

As residents notice water service returning, please run your faucets for 5-10 minutes to flush out residual air within water lines.

(Update: Nov. 22; 11:15am)

A water main break was identified early this morning at South Boulder Road and Minotaur Circle. The break is impacting traffic on the outside westbound lane of South Boulder Road and both the north and southbound lanes of Minotaur Cir on the northside of South Boulder Road. Please refer to the attached map (PDF) for impacted residences in the area with regards to water service.

Crews are still trying to isolate the main break. Gas and communication utility locators are on site to supervise excavation due to the close proximity of utility lines to the break.

Repair completion is unknown at this time. Please continue checking this News Flash link for updates.
