Coal Creek Improvement at Centaur Village

Untitled design (3)

The 2013 flood impacted the Centaur Village community, when flood flows overtopped the banks of Coal Creek and inundated neighborhood homes and roads. In 2014, the City, in conjunction with Mile High Flood District (MHFD) and other regional stakeholders, completed the Coal Creek and Rock Creek Flood Hazard Area Delineation and Master Drainageway Plan. The recommended improvements included overbank channel improvements to Coal Creek that would reduce or eliminate floodplain impacts to several residential structures in the Centaur Village area.
