Artist Statement

This eight-foot-tall pillar sculpture seeks to express — through a series of circular and rectangular forms — the expansion of our human consciousness from the perception of multiplicity to the profound awareness of unity in diversity. Each side features a series of seven frames holding either circular or rectangular forms. These forms number seven in the bottom section and are reduced by one in each section, moving up the piece until the top section holds just one. The piece is made from glazed and stained ceramic mortared and grouted to a 1/2" cement board attached to a steel post with stainless steel screws.
