Often folks aren't too sure what the rules are around certain issues relating to local outdoor recreation areas and are therefore left guessing as to what the rules are. For instance, are dogs allowed off-leash on a Lafayette Open Space property or in a City park? The answer to both is no, dogs off-leash are not permitted in these areas (with the exception of at the Great Bark Dog Park which is widely popular with hounds around town).
Over the next couple of years the Parks, Open Space and Golf Department will make efforts to improve our communication of the rules and regulations as defined by Chapter 80 of Lafayette's municiple code. Be on the lookout for more news articles and improved signage in parks and Open Space which will help deliniate permitted uses.
For a list of City parks and designated Open Space properties, please use the City's 'Facilities' module which can be access from the City's homepage (CityofLafayette.com) on the menu located on the lefthand side of the page.
