Colorado's largest xeriscape demonstration garden coming to Lafayette

Lafyette Demonstration Garden Fire Station 1

The City of Lafayette’s Sustainability Department and the Fire and Parks Department have partnered to construct one of Colorado’s largest xeriscape demonstration gardens at Fire Station #1, located at 401 N. 111th St.  The Fire Station is a unique opportunity for a demonstration garden because of its high visibility. With construction already underway, the garden will showcase the latest techniques for designing lawns using Resource Central's Garden-in-a-Box, fireproofing practices and educational information on how pollinator plants help conserve local biodiversity.

All plants in the demonstration garden will be fire resistant and the project will serve as an excellent resource for understanding 'firescaping' and water conservation in our region. Stay tuned for ongoing updates on the garden's progress as we work towards a more sustainable future.
