As of September 1, EnergySmart served its 3,000th business customer, roughly half of all businesses located in commercial buildings throughout Boulder County.
Collectively, businesses and commercial property owners participating in the EnergySmart service throughout Boulder County have implemented more than 900 efficiency upgrades, resulting in an investment of more than $8.5 million in the local economy. These upgrades are estimated to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 9,900 tons each year, the equivalent of taking 2,060 passenger vehicles off the road.
EnergySmart is a suite of energy efficiency services offered to businesses, commercial property owners and residents in all Boulder County communities. Although Boulder County was one of 40 communities nationwide to receive similar grants for energy programs, the strides made by EnergySmart has prompted others to look to Boulder County and its partners as a model of success.
