Arts Leaders Needed!Lafayette Cultural Arts Commission You don't have to be an artist to join Lafayette’s team of arts leaders, developing goals and objectives for the Arts and Cultural Resources Department. Use your voice in the distribution of grants and creating interdisciplinary cultural arts programming and events. Help us deepen, inform, and broaden access to our public programming! The Lafayette Cultural Arts Commission (LCAC) looks for citizens who want to plan, assist, advocate for, and participate in the cultural arts. A commissioner does not have to be an artist. One must believe that the spectrum of cultural arts is an important part of what makes Lafayette vital and special and want to commit time to that idea. We also seek to reach under-served populations in Lafayette and hope you can assist us in those goals. Artist Statement: I enjoy honest welds and Allen head bolts, the joy of struggle, and walnut oil on smooth sanded wood. My best work has regret and relief and sometimes I throw wrenches. I steal natural shapes for my sculpture. I take emotional resonance and apply it to beautiful shapes. The right emotion and the right shape just might be powerful to the right person. Maybe it is a small example of how to practice BOTH AND in addition to EITHER OR. My intent is to make art that contributes to a wider conversation about justice and care and our impact on the world. I hope it helps people think and be happy. I hope it helps people be important to each other.

Descripción del artista: Yo disfruto de las soldaduras y a Allen le gustan los focos, nos gusta el trabajo con el aceite de nuez y madera lisa lijada. Mi mejor trabajo tiene arrepentimiento y alivio y a veces utilizo algunas herramientas. A veces copio las formas de la naturaleza para mis esculturas. Tomo mis resonancias emocionales y las aplico a formas hermosas. La correcta emoción y la correcta forma o figura pueden impactar a la persona correcta. Tal vez es un ejemplo de cómo practicar ambas formas o una sola forma. Mi intención es hacer arte que promueva la conversación de temas como la justicia y el cuidado e impacto en el medio ambiente. Espero que ayude a las personas a pensar y estar felices. Espero que ayuda a la gente a preocuparse por el prójimo.
