Colorado Gives Day

In 2024, the Lafayette Public Library will celebrate 100 years of service to Lafayette. Founded in August 1924 and initially funded by monthly 10-cent donations by members of the local Wednesday Study Club, for generations the Lafayette Library has provided vital education, entertainment, and enrichment to the Lafayette community.  

To supplement the public support the Library receives as a department of the City of Lafayette, we also rely upon private support and donations—through the Friends of the Lafayette Library Foundation—to enable and strengthen varied Library programs and services, including Summer Reading, Studio 775 Mini-Makerspace, Paws to Read, author visits, eBooks, Wi-Fi hotspots, Book Club Kits, and so much more. 

By making a tax-deductible financial gift through the 501(c)(3) nonprofit Foundation, you can bolster access to the Library materials, programs, and services you have enjoyed over the years, and show your appreciation for this treasured community asset. 

And by making a one-time gift between now and Colorado Gives Day on Dec. 5 your gift will be matched by generous sponsors and receive part of an Incentive Fund made possible by Colorado Gives Foundation and FirstBank.

• Shopping the Foundation’s next book sale: Dec. 1-10 in the Library Lobby to take advantage of prices as much as 95% off new-book prices 
• Volunteering your time and talents: We can always use more folks with skills and experience to advance our mission and enhance Library capabilities, resources, and programs. To volunteer your talents in areas such as advocacy, marketing, graphic design, social media, and digital fundraising, please complete the Friends of the Library Fundraising Volunteer Interest Form.

Sensory Storytime 

Saturday, Dec. 2, 10:30am
Kids and caregivers - join us for Storytime designed for individuals who are neurodiverse or have sensory needs. This is a structured Storytime, with books read by a board-certified behavior analyst.

Boulder Opera Storytime

Monday, Dec. 18, 10:30am
Join us for a special Boulder Opera performance based on selections from Jorge Argueta’s children’s book "Xochitl and the Flowers."

Holiday Storytimes - Dec. 14, 19, 20, 21

Families - celebrate the holidays! Join us for special Storytimes in December at 10:30am.

Conversations in English

Drop in, Mondays, 6-7:15pm
Adults - join other English language learners in a weekly conversation group designed to improve speaking and listening skills in a friendly, informal, and non-judgmental environment.

Digital Navigation - Tech Help by Learning Source 

2023 schedule: 
Mondays 5-8pm, Wednesdays 10am-2pm, Thursdays 10am-3pm
Join Digital Navigator Jack Preigh at the North End tables on the Upper Level. Gain comfort on basic computing skills including navigating the internet, using Zoom, and with any other tasks on the computer. Get help with securing low-cost internet access. Appointments are preferred but drop-ins are welcome.

Mental Health Partners Holiday Art and Gift Sale

Senior Center Craft Sale

Drop by the Library to shop for handcrafted gifts in the lower-level Meeting Room.

Paws to Read

Sunday, Dec. 10. 1:30-2:30pm
Kids ages 5-10 - drop in and spend 15 minutes reading to a special therapy dog! Offered on the 2nd and 4th Sundays each month.

Lotería Mexicana - Family Bingo Mondays

Monday, Dec. 11, 5pm
Families - join us upstairs in the Kid Zone for bilingual family bingo fun in the traditional Mexican style! Drop in on the 2nd Monday of any month.

Drop-In Tech Help with Connect Digital Inclusion Labs

Sunday, Dec. 17, 1-3pm
Stop by the upstairs Learning Lab with your questions about about mobile phones, devices, apps, and other tech needs! Friendly and knowledgeable teens will work with you one on one. Meets on the third Sunday each month.
