Doing our Part-Resources and Information

Dear Lafayette Community –

I hope this message finds you all safe, sound, and healthy. We are officially 29 days into the statewide Stay at Home Order that began on March 26. As has been the case from the beginning of this pandemic, the current situation is very fluid. While Governor Polis has set the Safer at Home Phase to begin taking effect on April 27 and May 1, Boulder County Public Health has extended the existing Stay at Home Order through May 8 in order to develop clear strategies and guidelines for preventing a surge of COVID-19 cases. Read more information about this extension here:

Everyone needs to wear masks in public!

What has remained consistent throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, and continues today, is the utmost importance for everyone to maintain six-foot social distancing, and to wear cloth face coverings or masks. This applies anytime you are in a public place; at the grocery store, riding your bike, walking your dog, hiking on trails, or going to your place of employment.

When you wear a cloth face covering, you are protecting others from the potential spread of the COVID-19 virus, and others who are wearing their mask are protecting you.  This is so very important as we continue our efforts to limit the spread of this deadly virus.  You can make a mask from common items you have at home.  For resources and how-to tips, visit www.cityoflafayette.com/MaskUpLafayette

Continuation of City services

Please be reassured that even though City facilities are currently closed to the public, staff is working, many remotely, to continue providing core municipal services such as public safety, water utilities, and essential operations. It will be some time before City facilities reopen to the public. Staff is working on contingency plans so we are prepared when the time is right to reopen, but it will be in a manner that protects the health and safety of the Lafayette community.

Questions and answers about COVID-19

Mayor Jamie Harkins recently provided a message to the community and answered some COVID-19 frequently answered questions, in both English and Spanish, in a video produced for our social media channels. I encourage you to watch and share this video as it is insightful and provides answers to many questions regarding COVID-19.

Stay informed and safe

As this very fluid situation continues, we are committed to being accessible to residents and providing you with up-to-date information and resources, and ways to do business with the City online at cityoflafayette.com/COVID-19 .

It is so important right now for all of us to always wear a face mask while out in public, maintain six-foot social distancing at all times, and limit the exposure of others. This will keep our community safe and ultimately minimize the duration of this epidemic and the disruption to our daily lives.
In all of this, know that your City is here for you.

In health,
