Senior Advisory Board VacanciesAre you interested in making a difference in the lives of Lafayette seniors and their families?
Join the Senior Advisory Board of Lafayette Senior Services. The seven-member Senior Advisory Board, comprised of Lafayette residents, advises City Council and Senior Service staff in matters pertaining to Lafayette's 55 and older population. SAB members serve three-year terms and have the opportunity to work with the Boulder Area Conference on Aging and participate in Senior Law Day conferences.
Any resident, 18 years of age or older, is welcome to serve on the board! Meetings are the second week of the month at 4:30pm.

We need people to help organize and cut grocery bags to make the plarn and anyone willing to assist with crocheting the mats (bring your hooks, size P or bigger). Genesis Rehab's e-Vitality Check is used to determine a person's cognitive and functional status by identifying changes in a person's physical, emotional, environmental, social, career, and intellectual well-being. These checks, completed by Vitality Rehab team members under the supervision of a licensed physical, occupational, or speech therapist, efficiently, accurately, and comprehensively document a person's status. Medical Foot CareThe Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) provides Medical Foot Care on the third Wednesday monthly. Services include toenail trimming, callus filing, overall foot health check, and blood pressure checks. The VNA handles all scheduling and payments.
Location: The Lafayette Senior Center, 103 S. Iowa Ave. Medical foot care may be a benefit of your Kaiser plan. Credit cards are preferred, but checks are accepted.

Ortho Bionomy® BodyworkOrtho-Bionomy® is a therapeutic technique that relieves pain by helping the body rediscover its natural balance. Tai Chi 1Tai Chi is a series of easy and gentle exercise movements performed in a slow, focused manner accompanied by deep breathing. Tai Chi FormTai Chi Form covers the first third of the form with a sort section of meditation and warm-up. This class is open to anyone, and any experience level is welcome. SilverSneakers® Classic Have fun moving to music performing exercises focused on strengthening muscles and increasing range of movement for daily life activities. Participants can use handheld weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a SilverSneakers ball for additional resistance. Often a chair is used for seated exercises and standing support. Thursday TrackersDo you enjoy walking outdoors? Meet others who like to do the same and enjoy a walk around Old Town Lafayette or one of our local Parks or Open Spaces. At the end of the walk, we usually meet at a coffee shop to enjoy refreshments. Generally 40-60 minutes, walk times vary according to the group, location of the walk, and weather. If you have walking sticks, please bring them. Remember to dress appropriately for changing weather and bring water.

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide Program at the Lafayette Public LibraryThe program provides tax preparation assistance to low-to-moderate-income taxpayers, with particular attention paid to individuals who are 50 or older. The Tax-Aide program generally consists of two visits. An initial short visit to scan taxpayer documents and a second brief visit one week later to review the prepared return, receive a paper copy, and sign forms permitting the return to be filed electronically. Coal Creek Café and Meals on Wheels ProgramsCould you or someone you know benefit from Coal Creek Meals on Wheels (CCMOW)? CCMOW offers the following programs to provide community members with daily, hot, nutritious meals and related support services:
Meal Delivery Program mobilizes volunteers to deliver delicious made-from-scratch meals to clients Monday-Friday, plus two frozen meals for the weekend. Coal Creek Café (located at the Josephine Commons Housing Development) serves meals Monday-Friday from 11:30 to 12:30pm. This program creates opportunities for guests to socialize with friends and neighbors while enjoying our delicious daily offerings. Plates for Pets clients receive a supply of pet food (for their cats, dogs, fish, birds, and rodents) along with their meal delivery on the last Monday of each month. Project Homecoming clients receive five free home-delivered meals after returning from a hospital stay regardless of their age and income. Colorado Low-income Energy AssistanceThe Colorado Low-income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP) is a federally funded program that helps eligible hard-working Colorado families, seniors, and individuals pay a portion of their winter home heating costs. LEAP's goal is to help bring warmth, comfort, and safety to your home and family by assisting with heating costs. Applications are accepted from Nov.1 to April 30. Cultivate's Carry-out CaravanThis program connects community members with older adults who face the challenge of securing reliable access to groceries. Friendly volunteers provide caring assistance throughout the entire process of ordering, purchasing, and delivering groceries from their partner, King Soopers, straight to older adults' homes. Clients are responsible for paying for their groceries with a credit or debit card, but volunteer-powered shopping and delivery are completely free. Alzheimer's Association - Dementia Caregiver Support Groups - VirtualSupport groups are for family or friends who have a loved one with any kind of dementia. Groups are facilitated by the Alzheimer's Associations' screened, trained, and supervised volunteers. Masks No Longer Required in Boulder County indoor spacesAlthough masks will no longer be required, Boulder County Public Health recommends all individuals 2 years and older wear a mask while around others. Schools, childcare centers, private businesses, and employers may choose to implement their own policy requiring masks for individuals in their space.
Please be courteous to those who choose to continue wearing a mask.
