Card ProgramHave you heard about the Senior Card program? It has been in existence for many years and quietly engages seniors in our community. It provides outreach to seniors in the Lafayette community.
We send cards to seniors for celebrations, sorrows, or just to let someone know that people are thinking about them. We hope receiving a card brightens the day and brings a smile to someone's face.

Mats for HomelessWe need people to help organize and cut grocery bags to make the plan and anyone willing to assist with crocheting the mats (bring your hooks, size P or bigger). You can also donate plastic grocery bags to the Senior Center for this project. Once mats are completed, they are donated to Sister Carmen and the Lafayette Police Department.

Medicare 101 Are you turning 65 soon or just turned 65? Do you have questions about Medicare? This class is for you! It will answer common Medicare questions, such as: • What does Medicare cover? • How do I enroll in Medicare? • Should I enroll in Medicare if I’m still working and have health insurance from my employer? • How can I tell if a Medicare Advantage or Medicare Supplement plan is right for me? • How can I avoid a Part D Late Enrollment Penalty?

Medical Foot CareThe Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) provides Medical Foot Care on the third Wednesday monthly. Services include toenail trimming, callus filing, overall foot health checks, and blood pressure checks. The VNA handles all scheduling and payments.
Location: The Lafayette Senior Center, 103 S. Iowa Ave. July 13 and 20 | $45 Medical foot care / $15 fingernails
Medical foot care may be a benefit of your Kaiser plan. Credit cards are preferred, but checks are accepted.

Ortho Bionomy® BodyworkOrtho-Bionomy® is a therapeutic technique that relieves pain by helping the body rediscover its natural balance. This method of osteopath-based bodywork includes working with structure, lymph, fluids, neurology, organs, and the endocrine system, allowing the body to relax while opening neurological pathways that assist with and speed up the healing process. Tai Chi 1Tai Chi is a series of easy and gentle exercise movements performed in a slow, focused manner accompanied by deep breathing. Tai Chi develops body awareness to increase balance, promote activity, and improve health and mobility, encouraging independence and fuller lives. Tai Chi is safe for all ages and fitness levels. Tai Chi FormTai Chi Form covers the first third of the form with a sort section of meditation and warm-up. This class is open to anyone, and any experience level is welcome. SilverSneakers® ClassicHave fun moving to music and performing exercises focused on strengthening muscles and increasing the range of movement for daily life activities. Participants can use handheld weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a SilverSneakers ball for additional resistance. A chair is used for sitting down exercises and for standing support. Summer Concerts and Dinner at the Orchard Level 2 Walking It is time to enjoy the summer season! Meet at the Senior Center to jump on the bus that will take you to the Orchard Town Center in Westminster. Once there, enjoy the summer concert that plays from 6 – 8 PM, go shopping or join someone for dinner. The options are endless! This bus will provide transportation for four concerts this summer. You are welcome to join one or all of them! We will provide descriptions of the concerts in the Spotlight. Dress for the weather and bring money for dining and/or shopping.

Cheyenne Frontier Days - Level 3 Walking Whether you have been to “The Big Daddy of Them All” or not, you are in for an action-packed day when you join us for this bus trip to Cheyenne. We head out early to catch the day opening parade in historic downtown Cheyenne.
We then head to the event grounds where we will see the awe-inspiring Thunderbirds fly over several times. You will have time to explore the Indian Village, the Old West Museum, the many vendors and, of course, enjoy some food.
Tickets for the Rodeo starting at 1pm are included, so dust off your boots, or comfy tennis shoes and join us on this adventure! Dress comfortably and bring money for activities and food. The fee includes bus and rodeo tickets.

Denver Museum of Nature and Science and Lunch at Cracker Barrel– Level 2-3 Walking We begin our adventure by departing the Senior Center at 11am. Our first stop is lunch at Cracker Barrel. after lunch, our next stop is the Denver Museum of Nature and Science where we will arrive around 1pm to look at the exhibits. You have the option to attend the Imax theater or Planetarium for an additional cost. We will leave the museum around 4pm. Please bring money for lunch and extra activities.

Aging Mastery Program for CaregiversThis program, open to caregivers and non-caregivers, combines goal-setting, daily practices, and peer support to help participants make meaningful changes in their lives.
This six-week program is fun, innovative, interactive, and empowers you to spend more time each day doing things that are good for yourself and others. Caregivers are those who help a relative or friend with chores, errands, personal care, and more.

Medicare Basics Classes & CounselingThe Medicare Counseling program offers live, virtual Medicare Basics Classes throughout the month at varying times. Classes provide unbiased, up-to-date information about Medicare enrollment, benefits, costs, what and how Medicare pays, choices under Medicare plans, how they work, and prescription drug coverage.

Coal Creek Café and Meals on Wheels ProgramsCould you or someone you know benefit from Coal Creek Meals on Wheels (CCMOW)? CCMOW offers the following programs to provide community members with daily, hot, nutritious meals and related support services:
Meal Delivery Program mobilizes volunteers to deliver delicious made-from-scratch meals to clients Monday-Friday, plus two frozen meals for the weekend. Coal Creek Café, located at the Josephine Commons Housing Development, serves meals Monday-Friday from 11:30 to 12:30pm. This program creates opportunities for guests to socialize with friends and neighbors while enjoying our delicious daily offerings. Plates for Pets clients receive a supply of pet food (for their cats, dogs, fish, birds, and rodents) along with their meal delivery on the last Monday of each month. Project Homecoming clients receive five free home-delivered meals after returning from a hospital stay regardless of their age and income. CultivateCarry-out Caravan This program connects community members with older adults who face the challenge of securing reliable access to groceries. Friendly volunteers provide caring assistance throughout the entire process of ordering, purchasing, and delivering groceries from their partner, King Soopers, straight to older adults' homes. Clients are responsible for paying for their groceries with a credit or debit card, but volunteer-powered shopping and delivery are completely free. YardBustersThis program connects seniors in Boulder County who face the challenge of maintaining their yards during the Spring, Summer, and Fall months with volunteers to assist with basic yard cleanup. Fit-ItCultivate's Fix-It program connects volunteers to seniors in Boulder County who face challenges in maintaining their homes. Volunteers can perform simple home repairs, wheelchair/walker repairs, and grab bar installations. Alzheimer's Association - Dementia Caregiver Support Groups Support groups are for family or friends who have a loved one with any kind of dementia. Groups are facilitated by the Alzheimer's Associations' screened, trained, and supervised volunteers.
