A Nancy West a bit of Lafayette History and Your Treasures What kind of collections do you have at home? Maybe a cabinet full of figurines or a unique coin tucked away for a rainy day? Learn a bit about the world of collectibles from local collector, Nancy West, who has years of experience with antiques, especially in the Lafayette area. Nancy, who started Noble Treasures many years ago with her husband, will share her story of starting here as an antique entrepreneur in the 1980s. Bring a treasure you can easily carry (nothing bigger than that!), and we will do a little show and tell. Items with markings are much easier to research. You will leave with some interesting knowledge of Lafayette and how to value your treasures in today's market. We will also have some treats to eat! 3rd Law Dance/Theater Dance for Parkinson's: Dance for Balance3rd Law Dance/Theater offers gentle movement classes for people living with Parkinson's or with other mobility considerations. Evidence from more than 40 peer-reviewed scientific studies shows the effectiveness and benefits of the Dance for PD teaching approach. Dance improves the quality of life by increasing mobility, endurance, balance, and strength through joyful physical activity. For Boulder Falls Prevention Week, in chairs or standing, we will explore elements of different dance styles with energizing and inspiring music to accompany us. No experience is needed.

Mudslinger Pottery "TEST DRIVE" Workshop with Allison BequetteHave you always wanted to try the potter's wheel? Take a spin on the wheel in this test drive workshop. We'll guide you through the steps and help you make a piece to be proud of. All tools, materials, and clay are provided in this two-hour class. You'll get to keep one piece which we will fire and glaze for you. Come back in about three weeks to pick up your finished work. Bring an apron or a towel, and be sure to wear clothes you don't mind getting a little dirty.

CSU Extension-Native Grasses on the Front RangeAriana Gloria Martinez, Small Acreage Management Coordinator, will teach us about native grasses. Native grasses evoke a sense of place, recalling the open, rolling hills that once were common along the front range. Native grasses offer sweeps of color and texture across a landscape and add motion. Leaf blades and delicate seeds dance in the slightest breeze. Learn more about these beauties by joining us for this informative talk brought to us by the CSU extension offices. Refreshments will be provided.

Medical Foot CareThe Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) provides Medical Foot Care on the third Wednesday monthly. Services include toenail trimming, callus filing, overall foot health checks, and blood pressure checks. The VNA handles all scheduling and payments.

Hike and Bike Club Are you 50+ and looking for others to hike or bike with? If you answered 'yes’, this club is for you! Join others for 9 am hikes beginning at the trailhead or 9 am bike rides starting at the Lafayette Senior Center. Bring water, snacks, and appropriate gear. Bike Rides are on gravel and road, no e-bikes. These adventures are free of charge. Pre-sign waivers at the Senior Center.
Hike Upper Big Bluestem, Mesa and Towhee Trail | Sept 12 | 9 am | 6 miles Meet at the South Mesa trailhead (4111 Eldorado Springs Drive) across the street from the Dowdy Draw trailhead. We'll hike the South Mesa and Upper Bluestem trail, near Eldorado Canyon. Elevation gain: 849 ft. Bring water and a snack.
Hike Goshawk to Doudy Draw Trail | Sept 26 | 9 am | 7 miles Meet at the Doudy Draw trailhead (4100 Eldorado Springs Drive) across the street from the South Mesa trailhead. We'll hike the South Mesa and Upper Bluestem trail, near Eldorado Canyon. This is a great hike with wonderful views of the Flat Irons and Eldorado Canyon. Elevation gain: 1207 ft. Bring water and a snack.
Bike Anthem Trail | Sept 19 | 9 am | 15-20 miles Let’s do some local 15-20 mile trail rides, averaging about 10 mph. Meet at Senior Center and bike over to Public Road Trailhead. From there, we’ll ride east to the junction of Anthem Ranch Trails. We’ll do a counterclockwise loop of Anthem Ranch, rejoin Coal Creek Trail, and return to the Senior Center. The trail is mostly gravel, so hybrid, mountain, or gravel bikes are preferred. Bring water and a snack.

Walking Tour of Art on the Street in Lafayette Level 2 WalkingAll who wander are not lost. Come wander with us and learn about the City of Lafayette’s public art installations. Stacey Bernstein, Lafayette’s Public Art Coordinator, will guide us on a walking tour through around 20 art pieces and provide interesting facts and information about each one.
We will complete a little over a mile on our walk and return to our starting point. Dress for the weather and wear your walking shoes. We hope you will join us!

Rockies Games vs. San Francisco Level 2 WalkingGrab a friend or make some new ones and join us at the ball game. Today the Rockies take on the San Francisco Giants at Coors Field. Leave your car in the parking lot at the Senior Center and ride in comfort in our bus. Win, lose or draw; we will have fun watching this American favorite! Wear comfortable shoes as there will be a fair amount of walking and money to buy your lunch.

Cheesemaking and Farm Tour Level 2 WalkingTour the five-acre Briar Gate Farms, located west of Longmont and overlooking the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, and learn to make cheese.
We will see the milk house, meet the Nubian goats who produce milk for the cheese, and visit other animals that make this farm their home. Our experience will include learning to make cheese at home with a cheesemaking demonstration.
A late lunch (not included in the fee) at nearby Caprese Trattoria will continue our cheese-themed day. Please bring water and wear comfortable shoes.

Tree Walk at Waneka Lake Level 3 WalkingIf you'd like to be able to identify tree species when enjoying the outdoors, join Amy Lentz, tree expert, and CSU extension horticulturist, for a Tree Walk at Waneka Lake. Park in the west lot at Waneka Lake and meet at the boathouse. We will walk the 1.2-mile loop while learning tips and tricks to identify trees. Wear comfortable shoes, dress for the weather and bring a water bottle.

Aging Mastery Program for CaregiversThis program, open to caregivers and non-caregivers, combines goal setting, daily practices, and peer support to help participants make meaningful changes in their lives.
This six-week program is fun, innovative, and interactive. It empowers you to spend more time each day doing things that are good for yourself and others. Caregivers are those who help a relative or friend with chores, errands, personal care, and more.

Medicare Basics Classes and CounselingThe Medicare Counseling program offers live, virtual Medicare Basics classes throughout the month at varying times. Classes provide unbiased, up-to-date information about Medicare enrollment, benefits, costs, what and how Medicare pays, choices under Medicare plans, how they work, and prescription drug coverage.

Coal Creek Café and Meals on WheelsCould you or someone you know benefit from Coal Creek Meals on Wheels (CCMOW)? CCMOW offers the following programs to provide community members with daily, hot, nutritious meals and related support services:
Meal Delivery Program mobilizes volunteers to deliver delicious made-from-scratch meals to clients Monday-Friday, plus two frozen meals for the weekend. Coal Creek Café, located at the Josephine Commons Housing Development, serves meals Monday-Friday from 11:30-12:30pm. This program creates opportunities for guests to socialize with friends and neighbors while enjoying our delicious daily offerings. Plates for Pets clients receive a supply of pet food (for their cats, dogs, fish, birds, and rodents) along with their meal delivery on the last Monday of each month. Project Homecoming clients receive five free home-delivered meals after returning from a hospital stay regardless of their age and income. Mobility for All collaborates with community partners throughout Boulder County to offer transportation-related technology workshops. CultivateCarry-out Caravan This program connects community members with older adults who face the challenge of securing reliable access to groceries. Friendly volunteers provide caring assistance throughout the entire process of ordering, purchasing, and delivering groceries from their partner, King Soopers, straight to older adults' homes. Clients are responsible for paying for their groceries with a credit or debit card, but volunteer-powered shopping and delivery are completely free. YardBustersThis program connects seniors in Boulder County who face the challenge of maintaining their yards during the Spring, Summer, and Fall months with volunteers to assist with basic yard cleanup. Fix-ItCultivate's Fix-It program connects volunteers to seniors in Boulder County who face challenges in maintaining their homes. Volunteers can perform simple home repairs, wheelchair/walker repairs, and grab bar installations. Alzheimer's Association - Dementia Caregiver Support Groups Support groups are for family or friends who have a loved one with any kind of dementia. The Alzheimer's Association's groups are facilitated by screened, trained, and supervised volunteers. To find a Support Group that fits your schedule, visit Alzheimer's Association Support Groups or call 800-272-3900.
Loan Closet You can check out equipment such as wheelchairs, walkers, knee scooters, canes, crutches, transfer benches, shower seats, and temporary ramps. Check out basic mobility equipment by calling 303-665-9052 or emailing olderadults@lafayetteco.gov.
Lyons Club Glasses The Senior Center is proud to partner with our local Lyons Club to offer FREE sunglasses and reading glasses to seniors in need. The Lafayette Lyons Clubs accepts donations of prescription glasses that individuals in our community no longer need. However, at times they are also given reading glasses and sunglasses that they cannot donate overseas. Stop by the Senior Center if you are in need of reading glasses or sunglasses on the following dates. An optometrist will be present to help with glasses fitting. Sept. 16 | 11:30am-12:30pm
