Exhibit with 50 local artists celebrating Waneka Lake

Friday, Jan. 20; 5-7pm Artist Reception The Arts & Cultural Resources Department is hosting an exhibit of artwork inspired by Waneka Lake throughout 2022. The exhibit features artworks inspired by the artists' experience of Waneka Lake in whatever capacity - be it recreational, social, cultural, or in appreciation of the wildlife, landscape, etc. The collection represents a variety of styles and mediums. A Year at Waneka Lake exhibit will hang at The Collective Community Arts Center and the Lafayette Public Library from Jan. 12 – March 5, 2023. The Collective Community Arts Center, 201 N. Tif Choate Solo Exhibition 

Sunday, Jan. 15 - March 15, 2023 Tif Choate's series of paintings, the SubDudes, will be brightening the walls of the Muse Performance Space - This bold and colorful collection of serious portraits, the 'SubDudes' was painted during the Pandemic, reflecting the global response of fear and subduing caused by the lockdowns. Public Art Grant

Lafayette's Public Art Committee (PAC) is excited to announce the Public Art Grant for 2023. The PAC's Public Art Grant supports permanent or temporary visual art projects in Lafayette's public spaces. One may apply as an individual or as a group or organization for this grant. This is a competitive grant, applications ranging from $1,000-$2,000 are preferred. First time applicants are encouraged to apply.

Arts in Education Grant 

Lafayette’s Cultural Arts Commission (LCAC) announces the opening of the Arts in Education Grant application for the 2023-2024 school year. Teachers, staff, and organizations may apply for a grant to support arts-related projects with local students in Lafayette schools. The application opens Tuesday, Jan. 31. lafayetteco.gov/Grants

Artist Statement: Diego Harris is based in the small northern California town of Upper Lake, where he has had a gallery since 2007. Harris's current focus is constructing larger than life, whimsical sculptures primarily made of welded steel, sheet metal, and recycled car parts that invite people to interact with them. He builds his sculptures in COR-TEN steel, otherwise known as weathering steel, which lasts longer, requires less maintenance, and develops a rust patina.
