Card Program

Brighten the day of seniors in our community through the Senior Card program. This outreach initiative has been quietly connecting and engaging with seniors for years. Whether for celebrations, sorrows, or to let someone know they're thought of, we send cards to bring smiles and warmth.

We would love to hear from you. Please send requests to OlderAdults@lafayetteco.gov and join us in spreading joy and kindness.

Join us for laughter and enjoyment playing Mexican Train or other card games with others.

Computer Lab

Are you in need of a computer? Visit the Senior Center, where a public computer is available for checking emails, researching information, or improving your technical skills. The Computer lab is open on a first-come-first-served basis.


Crafters for Charity

Share your time and talents to make a difference in our community! Join us in knitting, crocheting, stitching, or creating heartfelt items that:
  • brighten the day of a cancer patient
  • bring warmth to a youngster
  • assist local charities
We welcome new individuals, fresh ideas, and discovering new ways to contribute and support our community together.

Wednesdays | 1-3pm 

Lap Robes

Join our compassionate team of volunteers crafting small lap-size quilts for donation to nursing facilities and other agencies. Whether you're a skilled sewer or not, there are various ways to contribute—ironing, cutting, tying, or delivering items. Your support makes a meaningful impact in bringing comfort and warmth to those in need.  

Second Thursday of the month | 10am-noon. Please call 303-665-9052 for specific dates.


Mats for Homeless

We need people organizing and cutting grocery bags to make plastic yarn, "plarn" and assist with crocheting the mats (bring your hooks, size P or bigger). You can also donate plastic grocery bags to the Senior Center for this project. Once finished, mats are donated to Sister Carmen and the Lafayette Police Department.

Monday Morning Glories

Join us on Monday mornings for friendship and coffee. Grab your free cup of coffee and Panera Bread treat from inside the Senior Center, then head to the picnic table to start the week. We will meet inside if the weather does not cooperate.

Do you have a question about how to use your cell phone? Do you want to learn how to send photos or make your photos into an album? How about increasing the font size on your device to read more easily? Answer all these questions and more at Tech Tuesdays, held at the Senior Center and hosted by Peak to Peak High School's Interact Club.

AARP Driver

AARP Smart Driver
Improve your skills and increase your safety when driving. Earn a certification valid for three years. Graduates may qualify for a discount on their auto insurance. Open to all individuals 50 and older.

  • Fees: $20 AARP Members / $25 Non-Members.
  • FREE for current AARP® Medicare Supplement Insurance Plan Holders. Proof of insurance from each participant is required to get this offer.
  • Payment is made to the instructor at the time of the class. Cash or check only.

Wellness

Medical Foot Care

The Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) provides medical foot care on the third Wednesday monthly. Services include toenail trimming, callus filing, overall foot health checks, and blood pressure checks. The VNA handles all scheduling and payments.

Medical foot care may be a benefit of your Kaiser plan. Credit cards are preferred, but checks are accepted.

Ortho-Bionomy

Ortho Bionomy® Bodywork

Ortho-Bionomy® is a therapeutic technique that relieves pain by helping the body rediscover its natural balance. This method of osteopath-based bodywork includes working with structure, lymph, fluids, neurology, organs, and the endocrine system, allowing the body to relax while opening neurological pathways that assist with and speed up the healing process. Laura Samel, a practitioner, provides 45-minute sessions.

SilverSneakers® Classic

Have fun moving to music, and performing exercises focused on strengthening muscles and increasing the range of movement for daily life activities. Participants can use handheld weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a SilverSneakers ball for additional resistance. A chair is used for sitting-down exercises and standing support. Exercises can be modified to accommodate fitness levels.

SilverSneakers® Stability

If you want to improve your balance and strength, this class is for you! Movements taught in class focus on improving strength and power in the ankle, knee, and hip joints while improving reaction time. This class is suitable for nearly every fitness level.

Young at Heart Tai Chi Flow

An aerobic fusion of Tai Chi, Taekwondo, and Chair Yoga. Expect to move gently and flow dynamically for a full mind-body workout.

Seated Tai Chi

Often described as meditation in motion, seated Tai Chi promotes serenity through gentle, flowing movements. It helps older adults get the health and wellness benefits of Tai Chi without the risk of falling. LaBlast Chair Fitness

LaBlast® Chair Fitness 

LaBlast® Chair Fitness is a dance fitness program done 100% seated.  No partner is needed (except for your chair!); LaBlast® is based on all the dances you see on "Dancing with the Stars"- Disco, Jive, Foxtrot, Waltz, and more.  Learn the actual dance skill while blasting calories to the music of all genres and seriously having a blast!

Wings Over the Rockies

Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum will provide an entertaining and educational experience found nowhere else in Colorado with a hangar full of rocketry, space, and aircraft exhibits.
Please wear good walking shoes and bring money for lunch. Your museum entrance and cost of transportation are included in the registration fee.

New Belgium Brewery and Tour

Colorado Rockies Game

Diabetes Education and Support

This group, facilitated by a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and Certified Diabetes Educator, is for Boulder County adults 60 and older with a diabetes diagnosis or those caring for someone with a diabetes diagnosis. Registration is required, but there is no cost to attend.

Aging Mastery Program for Caregivers

This program, open to caregivers and non-caregivers, combines goal setting, daily practices, and peer support to help participants make meaningful changes.

This six-week program is fun, innovative, and interactive. It empowers you to spend more time doing good things for yourself and others daily. Caregivers help a relative or friend with chores, errands, personal care, and more.

Medicare Basics Classes and Counseling

The Medicare Counseling program offers live, virtual Medicare Basics classes throughout the month at varying times. Courses provide unbiased, up-to-date information about Medicare enrollment, benefits, costs, what and how Medicare pays, choices under Medicare plans, how they work, and prescription drug coverage.

Fresh Conversations - Virtual

Fresh Conversations is an evidence-based nutrition education program focused on timely nutrition topics presented monthly. Patti Murphy, RDN, a registered dietitian in Boulder, leads Fresh Conversations.

Free Nutrition Counseling

A registered dietitian nutritionist can help you with various concerns, from mindful eating to digestive disorders and gut health. Call the counseling number, and a dietitian will then contact you.

Meals on Wheels

Coal Creek Café and Meals on Wheels

Could you or someone you know benefit from Coal Creek Meals on Wheels (CCMOW)?
 
CCMOW offers the following programs to provide community members with daily, hot, nutritious meals and related support services:

Meal Delivery Program mobilizes volunteers to deliver delicious made-from-scratch meals to clients Monday-Friday, plus two frozen meals for the weekend.

Coal Creek Café, located at the Josephine Commons Housing Development, serves meals Monday-Friday from 11:30am-12:30pm. This program creates opportunities for guests to socialize with friends and neighbors while enjoying our delicious daily offerings.  

Plates for Pets clients receive pet food (for their cats, dogs, fish, birds, and rodents) and meal delivery on the last Monday of each month.

Project Homecoming clients receive five free home-delivered meals after returning from a hospital stay, regardless of their age and income.

Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) – Broadband Service for Low-Income Households

Spread the news! The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has collaborated with broadband service providers across the U.S. to subsidize internet access for low-income households under Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP).  Any household that is below 200% of the Federal Poverty Line or has a member of the household that receives government benefits such as SNAP, Medicaid, SSI, WIC, Pell Grant, or Free and Reduced-Price Lunch is eligible for:  

  • Up to a $30/month discount on your internet service
  • Up to a $75/month discount if your household is on qualifying tribal lands
  • A one-time discount of up to $100 for a laptop, tablet, or desktop computer (with a co-payment of more than $10 but less than $50)
  • A low-cost service plan that may be fully covered through the ACP (Comcast, CenturyLink/Lumen, and most cell phone carriers have fully covered plans)

This resource and education group aims to connect solo agers, provide a supportive environment, and offer learning opportunities to members.

Colorado Low-income Energy Assistance

The Colorado Low-income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP) is a federally funded program that helps eligible hard-working Colorado families, seniors, and individuals pay a portion of their winter home heating costs. LEAP aims to help bring warmth, comfort, and safety to your home and family by assisting with heating costs.
 
Applications are accepted from Nov.1 to April 30.

Ride Free Lafayette

Free, on-demand, door-to-door bus service connects you to places within the City of Lafayette. Riders can book a ride by phone, online, or via the On-Demand Transit: Rider app. A bus will arrive at a pick-up location at a designated time.

Mobility For All

Want to feel more confident using smartphone apps that help you get around? Call 720-564-2218 for details. Mobility for All collaborates with community partners throughout Boulder County to offer transportation-related technology workshops. These workshops help community members of all ages and abilities feel more comfortable using transportation apps such as Google Maps, Transit App, Lyft, Uber, and RTD Mobile Tickets.

Cultivate Carry-out Caravan

This program connects community members with older adults who face the challenge of securing reliable grocery access. Friendly volunteers provide caring assistance throughout the ordering, purchasing, and delivering of groceries from their partner, King Soopers, straight to older adults' homes.

Clients are responsible for paying for their groceries with a credit or debit card, but volunteer-powered shopping and delivery are free.

Fix-It
Cultivate’s Fix-It program connects volunteers to Boulder County seniors facing the challenge of maintaining their homes. Volunteers can perform home repairs, wheelchair/walker repairs, and grab bar installations.

Home Hazmat Pick-Up

Do you have unwanted household hazardous materials like paints, batteries, and pesticides in your home but can’t get them to a proper disposal facility because of transportation challenges? If so, let Boulder County’s Home HazMat Pickup pilot program help. Staff will stop by your home to collect and transport this waste for proper disposal.

Hazardous Materials Management Facility accepts hazardous wastes from residents of Boulder County, the City and County of Broomfield, and the Town of Erie. Call or email to schedule your home pickup at hazmatall@bouldercounty.org or at 720-564-2225.



Alzheimer's Association - Dementia Caregiver Support Groups

Support groups are for family or friends who have a loved one with dementia. Groups are facilitated by the Alzheimer's Associations' screened, trained, and supervised volunteers.

Loan Closet Checkouts:

You can check out equipment such as wheelchairs, walkers, knee scooters, canes, crutches, transfer benches, shower seats, and temporary ramps.
