Additional Farmers and New Vendors!

In a survey Lafayette residents told BCFM what they’d like to see at the market in 2019 and new programs have been added to address this feedback. According to Brian Coppom, BCFM Executive Director, "You ask, we’re delighted to answer. Residents are asking for additional farmers, more prepared food and baked goods, and an even larger community vibe. We’ve incorporated all of these elements into the planning of this season.”

New vendors include traditional pupusas by Familia Pupusas, Mediterranean inspired meals by Charlotte’s Lil’ Kitchen, Louisville’s celebrated Moxie Bread, and two new farms - Farm 49 and Oxford Farms.

Chalk Artists - 4th Thursdays

Lafayette Farmers Market embraces the art community of Lafayette, and will host a monthly “Chalk Night Out” by gathering three local artists on the fourth Thursday of the month to compete for a $700 grand prize at the end of the season. In addition to the grand prize, the three finalists will have a chance to submit their final art for a permanent art installation in Old Town. The art should communicate - “What Makes Lafayette Great.” Monthly winners will be decided through a two-week voting process at the two following markets. Each participating artist will receive $75 for the cost of their materials. Interested artists should email community@bcfm.org for more information.

Farmer Guaranteed Sales

BCFM will continue their minimum sales threshold for farmers of the new Lafayette Farmers Market which guarantees farmers will have the sales they need to cover their costs. Any produce purchased from the farmers to meet their minimum sales threshold will be donated back to the community through local non-profits. Market supporters can help with this program by donating at www.bcfm.org/foundingmembers
