What is a Comprehensive Plan?

A Comprehensive Plan is the backbone of a community’s planning efforts. It outlines challenges, helps identify solutions, and provides guidance to appointed and elected officials on planning-related decisions. The best Comprehensive Plans are those that have the involvement, input, and support of the entire community.

What is the Launch Party Purpose?

The Legacy Lafayette Launch Party will begin collecting input from residents and be structured as an open house event.  It will feature a series of hands-on stations providing information about existing conditions in Lafayette across a broad range of planning topics such as Land Use, Transportation, Housing, Sustainability, and more. The Launch Party will also include activities for kids, a visioning exercise for participants, free food and drink, and prizes for attendees. Over the next few months, additional opportunities for public input will be available online and at other community events and locations.

The Comp Plan Process

In December 2018, the City hired Rick Community Planning (RCP) to help with efforts to develop this new Comprehensive Plan. In April, a 21 member Community Advisory Committee was selected to serve in an advisory role and assist the project team as the plan passes through the process.

RCP will be facilitating a series of stakeholder meetings to gather input from the public and various interest groups on key issues facing Lafayette in four Special Topic Areas: Strong Economy, Connected Community, Community Character, and Environmental Stewardship. The stakeholder meetings will be held in July and August and are open to the public.

Take the Online Survey

A statistically valid survey was mailed to Lafayette residents in May to better understand the community today and priorities for the future. The same survey is now available to the public online.  All residents are encouraged to complete the online version of the Comp Plan Survey. The survey will be available through September 2.
