Live Street Chalk-Off Competition

Monthly, Live Street Chalk-Off competition at the Lafayette Farmers Markets is looking for artists to compete for a grand prize of $700 and chance to submit final art for a public art installation on N. Public Rd. The farmers market takes place in old town Lafayette on the 400 block of East Simpson St.
The Chalk-Off competition will were feature three artists each on June 27, July 25 or August 22, with the Grand Finale Chalk-Off on September 26. 
All interested artists should email a brief description and rendering of their proposed piece to Elyse Wood at community@bcfm.org or call 303-910-2236 for more information. Please include preferred competition date (6/27, 7/25, 8/22). Proposed pieces should be family friendly using the theme “What Makes Lafayette Great.” Each artist will have a 24 by 24 inch paver for their chalk mural and will receive 45 assorted Blick soft pastels and $75 stipend. One winner will be selected each month, and the three finalists will compete for the grand prize on Thursday, September 26. Call for entry to paint in Old Town Lafayette

CFA - Old Town Art Eclectic Transformation

You’ve seen the bulky boxes on Public Road and Simpson Street. Wouldn’t they look better with some color? The Lafayette Urban Renewal Authority is looking for artists to transform street-side objects (electrical boxes, voltage meters, etc) into eclectic artworks!
Locations must be on Public Road or East Simpson Street and easily visible to pedestrians.  Projects must include 3-D components, such as mechanical cabinets, poles, doors, pipes, etc. Utility boxes owned by Excel Energy are not eligible for this project.
Stipends paid to the artists will be determined by the complexity and size of the proposed project, with a minimum fee of $250 and a maximum fee of $1000. All projects on private property are subject to owner approval and stipulations.
To apply, send a proposal to rogerc@cityoflafayette.com by the 20th of each month. Artists will be notified of acceptance/denial by the 5th of the following month. Include the address, a photograph of your proposed location, and a sketch and description of your concept. Include a link to your website, or at least three images of your artwork.Visit the link for full details.

Call for artists & poets

Poets and 2-D artists of all kinds are invited to See & Respond to the 2019 Lafayette Colorado Art on the Street collection by writing poems or creating 2-D works of art in any medium that are inspired by any of the 2019 Art on the Street sculptures. 
All art, photo, and poetry entries are due September 18, 2019; 5 PM
Any type of entry may be dropped off at The Collective during normal business hours.
